Abstract
Purpose: ldiopathic portla hypertension (Banti syndrome) is known to be a variety of diseases that presented with splenomegaly, hypertension without portal vein obstruction or significant liver diseases.
Patients and methods: We experienced a case of idiopathic portal hypertension in a 15-month-old boy with hepatosplenomegaly and hematemesis, which was confirmed by direct portography.
Conclusion: We emphasize the necessity for direct portography to evaluate the cause of portal hypertension, particularly in the absence of portal vein obstruction or significant liver diseases.
